I LOVE TO DANCE!
Kimberly and James Dean bring us another fun read aloud, Pete the Cat and the Cool Cat Boogie. This time Pete the Cat is
learning a new dance. As he tries to get
help from his different friends who try to teach him their dance, he does not seem
to get it quite right. However, the
great thing about Pete is that he does not give up. Throughout the story, he keeps trying and
trying and when he is about to give up, Wise Old owl encourages him to try to
be himself and not try to learn others' dance moves. This helps Pete find his own rhythm and enjoy
grooving to his own beat.
This is a
great story that teaches children not to give up no matter what their friends
say.
For ages 3-6.

THE SKY IS FALLING!
Is the sky really falling? Ask Chicken Little why she’s in a frenzy as
she does the mambo. Well it all started
one day when an acorn fell on Chicken Little’s head… and it went downhill from
there. Chicken Little truly believed
that the sky was falling, so of course she didn't listen to Squirrel's explanation
and created chaos on the farm.
Chaos meaning all the chickens began to dance; they did the moonwalk, the twist and the waltz. Soon enough all the other farm animals joined in the dance even though they knew better; the animals even did the hokey-pokey. It wasn’t long before the clever Fox showed up to stir some trouble. He believed that he could actually fool the animals to come to his den. Read to find out if the Fox accepts the chickens challenge.

Teague is a hilarious read-a-loud picture book. This is a great twist for a
classic tale, teaching the importance of listening skills, especially when creating unnecessary confusion. The illustrations are colorful and cartoon-like.

EVER WONDER WHY RABBITS HAVE SHORT, FLUFFY TAILS?
Rabbit wants leaves and flower buds to munch on during the summertime, but he can't reach them. Couldn't they just fall down? Or, better, yet, is there some other way Rabbit could get closer to the the branches of the tree? His growing frustration to wait for these tasty treats to fall leads him to think of a clever plan that will get him high into the trees: a song and dance that will cause snow to fall down, even during the summer time! After delivering an entertaining amount of song and dance, rabbit is in need of much needed rest. When he awakens, he is involved in an accident and finds that his tail now matches the length of his patience.
JAMES and JOSEPH BRUCHAC Iroquois tale, RABBIT'S SNOW DANCE will amuse readers and may find themselves humming Rabbit's tune throughout the day. For Kinder thru 4th grade.

HARVEST TIME FAVORITE
Every now and then we all have one of those nights where sleep just does happen. One where our thoughts or other distractions keep those eyes glued open. In the classic title, Barn Dance by Bill Martin Jr. and John Archambault that's exactly what happens. Music comes wafting it's way through the air from the barn into the room of a young boy. The rhythms are so enticing that he sets off following them to the barn and what's happening there is a very unusual sight...the animals are having a hoedown!Parents read this one to yourself before sharing it, as if it is read at the author's intended pace the reader's voice becomes the music of the dance. A magical experience.

THESE ARE THE DAYS OF OUR TOYS LIVES...

Lumphy, Stingray and Plastic are back again with their toy friends for new adventures. They meet a shark friend, made of rubber, that they stuff with garbage before they realize he's a nice shark. They escape out the window into a big drift of snow as they try to hunt for the little girl that loves them. But the best story yet is when they go to the basement for a dance party to celebrate the repair of their friend the dryer! TOY DANCE PARTY by Emily Jenkins is the sequel to Toys Go Out, and is just as entertaining. The hilarious actions of these toys bring them to life and give each one some very human characteristics. Good for 2nd - 5th grade readers.
