Books About Bullying- THE LITTLE BULLY BY BETH BRACKEN

Billy is a cool kid with many reasons to smile.  He has friends.  He is kind to people and animals.  He even has a great smile (even with a tooth sticking out!).  When a classmate continuously teases and berates him, Billy tries to stand up to the bully but the plan backfires.  Billy begins to internalize the comments and questions himself and his abilities.  Things get so bad that Billy refuses to go to school. Ultimately, Billy decides to put his feelings aside and tell the bully about the consequences of his actions.  Will Billy's statement make an impact on the bully?
THE LITTLE BULLY by BETH BRACKEN would be great to share at home or in a classroom.

For children in Pre-K and up, and for adults and children to read and discuss together.

WHEN KISSING IS A BAD IDEA

All Emerson wants is to try kissing a boy. But when she finally does, she sees into their minds! It's something she's been able to do ever since her mother abandoned her and her sister many years ago. Now, she's just trying to live as normal a life as possible. It's not easy, however, when her guardian Aunt threatens to pull her from the only school she's ever attended for getting bad grades! Emerson accidentally stumbles upon a plan that not only helps her grades, but allows her to practice kissing and meet the boy of her dreams! KISS & MAKE UP by Katie D. Anderson is not your typical realistic fiction story, with the whole reading minds thing, but it will definitely keep you reading!

For grades 6 and up.

PENNY FOR A PENCIL IN PAKISTAN

This is an adapted version of the adult book for younger readers. While not as fluid as the original book of the same title, it still has the power to inspire readers with Greg Mortenson's determination to honor his promise to a village and bring schools to remote sections of Pakistan & Afghanistan.
This version of three Cups of Tea features more photgraphs & a Q&A with Mortenson's daughter, Amira, as she follows in her father's footsteps in promoting Pennies for Peace and the Central Asia Institute, which help raise funds to build and maintain these schools.

Three Cups of Tea: One Man's Journey to Change the World.. One Child at a Time by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin.

For readers 4th & up.
