WHATEVER IT TAKES TO BE POPULAR!!

How to Rock Braces and Glasses by Meg Haston is all about Kacey Simon and how she was the queen bee, until her eyes got infected from her cool new contacts which made her trip and chipped her teeth.  Kacey's amazing weekend resulted with her getting braces AND glasses AND a lisp all in the same weekend. Her fall from queen of mean, giving what she thought was well meaning advice on her weekly school television broadcast, hits her hard and fast, especially when a former best friend tells her like it is.
For readers in 6th-8th grade who enjoy a fast paced rom-com.

8TH GRADE SUPER ZERO!

The only people that know Reggie from his school are his two best friends, other than that he is pretty much an unknown individual. However, when he volunteers at a local homeless shelter, his sense of responsibilities 'wake him up' and he realizes that better things need to be done in his life... He decides to become the president of his class. Even though his classmates don’t even know that he exists. However, Reggie knows that because of a major incident, his classmates have labeled him as a ‘nobody’ and he needs to redeem himself and show that his nickname “Pukey” is something from the past and that he is a much better person than people think. This is a very good story that deals with middle school students and the everyday struggle that they go through, it has the elements of family issues, friends, and the importance of community work. 8TH GRADE SUPERZERO is written by OLUGBEMISOLA RHUDAY-PERKOVICH.

For grades 6th-8th.

Braces. That's how Jackson, a once popular kid turns into one that the popular kids pick on. He loses his identity & cool standing but this gives him the opportunity to observe his classmates, discovering that the nerds are really spies operating right from inside the school! When Jackson himself accidentally becomes a spy and is reluctantly inducted into N.E.R.D.S. he realizes that all their supposed nerdish qualities have been retooled to become their greatest weapons and that includes his wicked new braces.

N.E.R.D.S: National Espionage, Defense and Rescue Society by Michael Buckley is very funny spy book with all the great gadgets and action of Alex Ryder and the humor of The Sisters Grimm. For readers in 5th -8th grade.
